Controller
Beckie Smith
I have been working for S&L Foods for about 15 years. I started as a teenager washing trucks, cleaning and filing paperwork. While in college, I continued working in the office learning different departments and this is when I found my love of accounting. In 2001 I obtained my Accounting Degree from Chico State. I left S&L in 2012 and moved out of state where I worked as a Controller in manufacturing and distribution facilities for both food and non-food products. In 2019 I came back home to Chico and rejoined the S&L team as Controller.
My favorite part about working at S&L are the strong relationships built with customers and co-workers. I love that each day brings new challenges and as a team, we meet those challenges head on!
In my spare time I enjoy walks in Bidwell Park, running, gardening, and spending time with my husband, children, and animals.
Driver Supervisor / Logistics Guru
Kyle Hedlund
I have been with S&L Foods for 15+ years-- I started as a route driver and was promoted to driver supervisor as the business grew and logistics became a larger part of S&L’s business. No two days are alike here, and there are no shortages of challenges to keep me on my game.
I received a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a Teaching Credential from CSU Hayward.
Warehouse Manager
Carlos Atencio
For 10+ years, I have been the warehouse manager at S&L Foods. During this time, I have been amazed at the amount of mettle this group has shown. We have gone through unprecedented times with fires and a pandemic, and S&L Foods has answered every time the bell was rung. The people here are the best part of my job.
I graduated from Durham High and then went on to graduate Chico State with a B.S. in Business Management. Afterward, I worked for First Interstate Bank as a financial services manager doing home loans in Grass Valley until 1999. That same year, I moved back to Chico and started working for a local produce company as a receiver, then banana processor, and then manager. When the opportunity to join S&L Foods came, I jumped at it-- and the rest is history.
In my spare time I enjoy rest and relaxation.
