In August of 1980, MJ “Steve” Stephenson and his son Larry Stephenson opened S and L Food Sales. In the beginning S and L specialized, as the name would suggest, in distribution of beef, pork and chicken. Now, 30 years later, S and L Food Sales is a broad line distributor stocking more than 4,000 products on hand with multiple re-distribution programs. With a commitment to customer service S and L Food Sales is now known as the premier distribution company in Northern California.
Located in Chico, California S and L currently operates a fleet of 20 tractor trailers out of our 30,000 square foot distribution facility. Through partnerships developed with vendors both national and regional, as well as re-distribution programs with C&S Grocers, Nabisco, Keebler and Bunzl, S and L has positioned itself to fully service any retail grocer or foodservice needs.
S and L Food prides itself in our commitment to the customer. Our number one priority is helping the customer increase their sales and profit margins. We offer multiple marketing programs that can be tailored to meet any customer needs. In addition S and L Food distributes a monthly ad planner as well as weekly specials on select items. S and L Food also specializes in case resets, store schematics, and we keep an extensive collection of point of sale material on hand.
